Brian Whitlock grew up in Tulsa and came from a medical family; his father Boyd Whitlock was a physician while his mother was a registered nurse. Ryan found a gift and was blessed of art and began developing at an early age. He graduated from Tulsa Memorial in 1983 and continued his education in Stillwater. He then continued his interest in fulfilling his pre med science requirements. He then graduated with a bachelor of science and biology in 1987.
He then went on to attend the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine where he realized his God-given talent was in the field of plastic surgery. Graduating with his MD with the sanction in 1992 he began a six-year general surgery internship and residency. Remaining at OU and Oklahoma City he then matched at the University of Alabama upper Birmingham procedures plastic surgery residency under their two leg of stalwart Lewis Connors MD for an additional two years. After 16 years of training behind high school he was ready to begin helping others.
